Self Priming Centrifugal Pumps
The HTC range of pumps are lateral channel pumps with open impellers. The impellers run between two intermediate casings of which one is plain disk with suction opening and other incorporates a lateral channel ending in the discharge opening, it also incorporates a small de airing channel.
This principle has the effect of the handling medium being transported in a screw like manner from suction to delivery, this movement is accelerated with the discharge head increasing. The higher the discharge head, the more frequent liquid enters the cell of the impeller and levels on the other side. Between the liquid in the impeller (in the impeller cell) and the liquid in the lateral channel, a steady impulse takes place until the liquid leaves through the discharge opening. The principle of energy absorbed by the liquid in a lateral channel pumps gives us a characteristic of linear curves and is several times that of a true centrifugal pump.
The gases are normally handled by the stage of the pump, the liquid staying in the pump is transferred to the pressuriesed, thus we obtain a pressure differential from suction to discharge side. By this pressure differential between suction and discharge a certain amount of liquid is returned against the rotation of the impeller in the lateral channel, this liquid moves the gas in the form of foam from the intermediate stage in to the pressure side of the pump where gas and liquid are again separated. The gas is then pressed through the de-airing channel to the discharge side. It is thus possible to work from a high vacuum on these pumps. The test vacuum on such pumps is in the region of 28" Hg and the pumps are capable of evacuating 350 feet or more of suction pipe lines without any difficulties.
Design Features of HTC Self Priming Pumps:
